As a few of you know, I've only been in Australia for a few years.....
So i was surprised when i tryed to inport my sling shot from Europe and it was stopped at customs.
When i checked up on it I realized it was restricted and prohibited weapons in NSW. I've been trying to get a permit for sport and recreational use but am constantly denied.
Can anyone offer some advice ?

I'd be interested to know also. I was told a few years ago by an owner of a gun shop that it was illegal for him to sell a made slingshot, however he was allowed to stock and sell replacement bands and ammunition. ????

I've known people to import them, though not into NSW, which has prohibitive prohibitions on all manner of stuff.
Archery Academy in SA sells them.

Archery Supplies in Camberra sold 2 sling shots while I was in there today, they must not be banned in the act.

Some slingshots are a prohibited import and prohibited weapons in some states.
The ones with the fore-arm brace are usually banned.

You can buy the basic slingshots not the ones with the wrist brace here in Queensland.

Archery Acadamy and Archery mart stock them. AM has them for $35 and extra bands/pouch for $15 and also (as far as I know) all the gun shops here in SA as well.
