From the internet;
In America $60 in 1941 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $1,208.86 today, an increase of $1,148.86 over 81 years. The dollar had an average inflation rate of 3.78% per year between 1941 and today, producing a cumulative price increase of 1,914.77%.
From the early part of 1940 to the middle of 1943, average weekly wages in manufacturing establishments covered by State unemployment compensation laws increased 71 percent, from $26 to $45; average weekly wages in the combined group of industries we have classified as white-collar increased 21 percent, from $24 to $29.
