Data breach on ozbow.net.au

#1 Post by Kendaric » Fri Jan 03, 2020 6:55 pm

When I logged into Ozbow, I got a screen message stating:

Change your password.
A data breach on a site or app exposed your password.
Chrome recommends changing your password on ozbow.net.au now.

Has anyone else got this screen message?

I will try and contact admin now.

Did the message say ozbow.net.au?
If it did it is a scam as the site is .net no .au

Interesting.

Ozbow is saved on my favorites list in Chrome.

The message came up as ozbow.net.au, yet I note that Ozbow is not an 'au'.

I was still able to log in as usual and also change my password.

After I saw the message, I also ran Avast anti-virus, and Malwarebytes and did a C Clean. Nothing picked up there.

Logged in fine this morning with the new password.

I just did a google search and found out that this is a very new feature of Chrome.

It relates to using the same email address and password for other sites or apps. It may well be that the data breach occurred on another site.

Luckily I have about 6 other email addresses.

When cleaning up virus on computers I find Chrome does not always get fixed, I have had to uninstall and reinstall Chrome to fix it.
