IFAA and longbow

I was having a look at the IFAA rulebook, for a completely different reason to Trad, and I noticed that IFAA does not recognise a hybrid/modern longbow: https://www.ifaa-archery.org/index.php/ ... es/longbow

It would seem that they are put into recurve division (being a semi recurve that they are).

Nothing like flogging a dead horse again - the forum was stagnating a bit of late lol.

It is good that one association acknowledges our Traditional Archery heritage and traditions and calls these bows what they are historically known as; a recurve and more precisely semi-recurve. It's pretty sad that our own 'Traditional Archery Australia' doesn't do likewise.

TAA, with permission, are using the IFAA rule book so those changes may eventuate in Australia.

To me some of the rulings seem to be off the mark in as much that selfbows can have pistol grips.

To the best of my knowledge clubs hosting traditional shoots use there own rules rather than those of associations except perhaps clubs that are ABA affiliated.

With the push for gender equality i.e. the glass ceiling syndrome could we see the male / female divisions being combined in the not too distant future?

Daryl.

The old glass ceiling myth. Goes along with the gender wage gap myth, rape culture on campus myth, and global warming (by human means) myth. An interesting book was published called Sick Societies, which shows evidence of societies in the past that have become extinct though social myths. As much as things change the more they stay the same.

Almost like the myth of the modern longbow lol.

Whilst I can't see why a female couldn't shoot as accurately as a man, such a blending of divisions would ONLY occur if advantageous to women. The current status quo is discrimination only in favour of women and minority groups.

The next, or current battle in sports is the whole trans agenda. Didn't Russia in the 70's get disqualified for using trans in womens events?

IBO have various shooting categories such as mixed gender and gender specific classes.

I have heard that transgender competitors can nominate in which class they participate although I have not seen anything in writing to confirm or deny this statement.

Regarding myths;

“Tracey Holmes, an Australian journalist, is a presenter on ABC News Radio, since January 2014, with an extensive career in television and radio, specialising predominantly in sport. She currently presents The Ticket at 11:00am every Sunday on ABC News on Radio.” Wikipedia

One must ask if Tracey Holmes is qualified to make the above statements or is she re iterating some one else’s findings.
