General discussions. Politics, scuttlebutt, whatever: you're getting married, changing jobs, got a gripe or a compliment, dying to get out with the bow etc.....

Looks like I'm not the only one to get lucky sometimes :wink:

Any trouble cutting it? Reading some of the US sites I was a little worried about how hard it was going to be, but even fully cured 8-10" logs and bigger green stuff was no match for my small 14" saw. Bastardly heavy though!!!!

My VERY limited experience is that down here in Vic the bugs don't attack the heartwood, only the sapwood. I have some very old osage that the bark and sapwood has rotted off completely and the heartwood shows no sign of borers that I can see. I got 2/3 through a self bow on a dry stave and found that the borers had drilled through the sapwood, hit the hardwod then went parallel with it.

<insert salt shaker here>

yeah funny how lady luck sometimes smiles upon us hey :D . Cutting was relatively easy as my mate did the cutting lol, worst part of it its usually a big tangle up top,any old wood on the ground looked bug free, but I will be in town today to get some bug deterrent for it. cheers kerry

Let me know if you need any osage and I will take it to Barambah Trad Shoot, still got quite a lot left and proceeds will go to Granite Belt Bowmen cheers all and see you at Barambah. :Tent

Some nice wood there Kerry. Did you manage to avoid all the thorns? You will have the big job of splitting it up now and that takes some effort I can tell ya.
