temudjin's heart

Well it's been an "interesting" week since getting home from Barambah on Sunday. Some may have noticed I was a little short of breath over the weekend due to a cold so had a bad night Sunday finding it hard to breathe.
Visited doctor on Monday morning only to be told the ambulance was on the way to take me to hospital due to an irregular heartbeat!!!
Anyway, long story short I have atrial fibrillation caused by a dud valve in the heart. Preliminary operation scheduled for Monday to then open heart surgery soon thereafter to replace the faulty valve.
Hopefully I'll be up and about again in time for next trad shoot.

Geez Tom! That's a nasty suprise, but at least you went to the Doc's straight away and you will be in good hands. Hope you are back on deck quickly and ready to fling a few arrows.

Hi everyone,
Again a big thank you for all your kind thoughts.
Latest news this morning is that open heart surgery will be Friday this week. They will try to repair the existing valve first, if not successful they will then fit a new, likely mechanical valve. I'll be in hospital for 5 days and then 6 weeks recovery at home - no lifting, no driving etc.
With luck I'll be shooting again by early July so I hope to see you at a shoot soon Camping7

Thanks for all the kind wishes - they are very much appreciated.

Great that the Op went Ok Tom. 6 weeks till you can drive, we'll miss you at Caboolture. I know what it's like to be laid up and wanting to get out so if your up to it don't be afraid to ask for a lift even it only means sitting down to a Cuppa at the Clubhouse.
