Put Hawkesbury River houseboating on your bucket list

Put Hawkesbury River houseboating on your bucket list

#1 Post by Scrub Bull » Wed Nov 26, 2014 6:25 pm

I'm back after a week on the Hawkesbury River, and what a trip. The views are just fantastic so here are a few panoramas I have put together for you, not easy to do when the boat keeps moving.

Looks nice but it won't be going on my bucket list as boats and I don't get along.

So Jeff you do the next best thing, and take yourself along to Robs Wisemans shoot and you can sit up on the big rock at target 15 and take it a very similar view of the river from on high. Or perhaps drop a line from his little pier.

It looks very calming Mark, thanks for sharing.

cheers

It looks absolutely beautiful mate.

Looks great, Mark. Glad you (& presumably missus) found it so rewarding.

Do you have a photo of the boat? Where did you depart from?

We hired the boat from Holidays Afloat at Brooklyn.
The boat was about 25-30 years old worked well for its age, handled well for a brick on water.
The boat had 10 berths we had 6 on board, 6-7 would be just right number of persons for a week.
Cost was about $500 a head, thats with boat hire, fuel, food, and a small amount of booze.
Compared to other holidays I have taken the family on it was cheap per head, but not as cheap as camping and hunting goats.

An awesome place , have loaded up the boat with camping gear and spent countless days running around all over that river ,
In certain sections of it could be fooled into thinking you are a thousand miles from anywhere , yet are only an hour or less from the centre of Sydney.
