info on Damon Howatt
Got given a RH 45# @ 28inch 60 inch one piece Damon Howatt recurve. Nice looking bow.
Heard the name before.
Any comments/further info?
Has been used irregularly by owner even up to a few months ago but he is now too ill to shoot.

Damon Howatt made excellent recurves. I believe Matin Archery bought them out and continued to make there line of bows. Sounds like your bow is a keeper Kevin.

I will take some pics tomorrow and post them.
They have a current website and still make custom bows.
This bow comes from the mid seventies.
Pity I am left handed......then again I can handle 45 pound right handed.
I strung it and there are no creeks. Even though used all that time until recently I think I will hang it on the wall.

My first professional bow was a Damon Howatt Cavalier but unfortunately it was stolen during a break in whilst on loan to the club.
From memory the core laminations and riser were hard rock maple.

This thread from archery talk has some interesting info on Damon Howatt.

The Warthog compound bow shown is obviously closely based on their takedown recurve. Best looking compound bow I have ever seen IMO. I remember thinking "I want one" when I first saw one in the late 70's.
Cheers... Rod

The first bow i ever had was a Damon Howatt Ventura it cost me $60 way back in 1984. I still have it and would have to rate it as the best bow I ever shot.

Lovely bows,
DO NOT USE FAST FLITE!!!
i cannot ove emphasize the importance of this statement. the bows are not FF rated and you will cause catastrophic limb failure. I have been there, done that.
cheers

I have a 50# r/h of the same and yes....do not use fast flite.
It is a very nice bow, very short and doesn't stack at 29" draw either.
