Thoughts and wishes for Roadie and Heather

#1 Post by little arrows » Sun May 11, 2014 8:06 pm

I decided to start a new post, and have copied below from the Bramambah Trad Bash thread:

On a serious note: on Saturday morning a young lady came out to the course looking for Grant Cawthorne. His lovely Bride, Heather (who was staying with the Grandkids) had been taken to Kingaroy hospital following a fall - was all the details we had at the time. Of course, everyone that know's Roadie was very concerned.
We now know Heather was playing football with her Grandkids when she had a fall and shattered her hip, and was taken to Kingaroy Hospital sedated and transferred to Toowoomba Hospital. She had a very uncomfortable night Saturday, as you can well imagine, and Roadie spent the night with a few chaps for company at his friends not far from the course, and arrived back at the on Sunday morning, to advise she was being operated on today and would be hospitalised for approx. 6 weeks. No more was known at the time of the Presentations. The guys from the Toowoomba club contacted their president as soon as they heard and Roadie will be able to stay at their grounds, not far from the hospital, until Heather recovers.
Everyone has rallied around Roadie and I am sure he will add more details should be chose to.
Our thoughts and wishes are with you both, Roadie and Heather.

An update: The hospital was not able to do the surgery this morning, so have fed Heather and she'll be fasting from 2.00am and will be having partial hip replacement surgery 9.00am Monday morning all going well.
Roadie is still camped at Barambah and has others camped with him, and will be motoring to Toowoomba tomorrow morning.

cheers

Roadie and I have been chewin the fat via the phone the past couple of days. I share the following with his permission.
He keeps me informed on Heather recovery and what he is up too. Heather will have a long recovery period but she is already getting Roadie under control. Yesterday Roadie shared with me some new experiences that he has learnt since Heather has been laid up. In the 43 or so years that they have been together it would fair to say Roadie has enjoyed some finer things in life thanks to Heather. Two days ago Roadie realised hells bells I don't know how to wash clothes so only in the style that Roadie has he goes to the IGA supermarket chats to the young woman serving and says what do I need for washing clothes and how do I do it as i have never done it and my bride is in hospital, she says let me talk to the boss as I might be able to help you. The boss comes out checks out this character( a man that I am told is so old kids in his town think he fought at the Battle of Crecy :surprised: ) . Anyway the boss say to the young assistant yep go down the Laundrette and help this gentleman out. Don't that make your feel warm, good on the young woman.
Anyways clothes go to Heather slightly damp, Heather points this out Roadies reply at least their washed. Good one Roadie
Todays story
Well a few of the local compounders at the club come down early and invite the old bloke to bring his sticks along, he does and they admit he can shoot that thing. Well Heather has a new request and a new learning for Roadie. The Bride says I need more nighties :surprised: when I last spoke to Roadie he was going out to buy nighties once again I think the same technique is planned. So if I or any of you get a call tommorrow and he is on the inside of the slammer for asking young women to try on nighties just to make sure they would fit his bride look out
As you can imagine we are having a few good laughs , something Roadie could do with.
Anyway that enough I'm sure he will chuckle in his port when he reads this, only Roadie hey.
Roadie and Heather lots of love from the Archery crowd

Thanks Tony, Heather was sitting in a chair yesterday and the physio' had her walking a few steps to the bathroom for a shower, and back again. A slow process, but a start. Heather has her new clothes, and yes Tony once again a lovely young Lass was very helpful.
I know I say it time over time again, but Heather and I are blown away by the Help, good wishes, and support from Every one. THANKS. Cheers Roadie.
