let me please introduce myself, I'm a man...

General discussions. Politics, scuttlebutt, whatever: you're getting married, changing jobs, got a gripe or a compliment, dying to get out with the bow etc.....

let me please introduce myself, I'm a man...

#1 Post by slowhand » Sun Feb 16, 2014 10:19 am

Hi everyone
My name is Rajko(they call me Ray) and my English is not the best, but I'll try my best.
I was born almost 50 years ago on the edge of a big old forest in Balkan's hills.
Although I've been hunting all my life hunting with bow and arrow is new for me.A decade ago I used a compound bow for a while but I did't like it much.About a year ago I bought a longbow (predator phoenix 55#) and some arrows and started practising in my backyard.
It took less than I anticipated to get hold of it (I mean to learn the basics  ) and to build my first set of wooden arrows that produced half decent results.
I'm trying to learn as much ans possible about traditional archery and that's how I've found this forum.

Hi Ray. Welcome to Ozbow!

You have posted up some very nice photos mate. I like the fallow buck. I look forward to hearing more of your exploits in the future.
There is no use focusing on aiming if you don't execute the shot well enough to hit what your are aiming at.

Welcome to OZbow Ray, Like the fellas said, great to see your photos of some game on the ground. Where are your photos taken (looks like Aussie bush to me)?

I like your setup with the Safari Tuff quiver attached to your daypack. I am going to try out a very similar kit this weekend.

Cheers...... Rod

Yes it is Rod, I'am in SA
As for the quiver..I'm very happy with it. I have tried few different ones but for me, this is the best solution so far.
Comfortable, light, quiet, keeps the fletching dry and protected and regardless of the situation arrows are always easy to reach with minimal movement.

I was just lucky with that one it happened during rut season. I used to hunt fallow for years with rifle ,and managed to learn few things about their behaviour and habits,

Awesome! Welcome to Ozbow. I hope you hang around this site, mate, always good to have new faces with experience.

Well, experience  ...I've still got a lot to learn about bow hunting.
Look at this :)
The first arrow obviously didn't reach the target, second arrow went right through it and hit the tree.
I was surprised that billy didn't react after the first arrow.

I found him 20 metres downhill
