Twists and turns of life
So, about 5 years ago I bought this bow from Gundy- http://www.ozbow.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.p ... ado#p72511 (I've bought/swapped a few items with Gundy, he's a great bloke to do business with, he even sent me a fantastic Scandi knife as a gift! ) and enjoyed it, but got bitten by the Gringa longbow bug not long after and the Dorado sat neglected for months so I eventually sold it to a bloke here on the island. Over the years since buying it he had mentioned once or twice that archery isn't for him ( I tried hard to encourage him, and invited him to come around to my place and shoot with me numerous times but he just didn't seem to have the drive to want to master it ) and he would like to sell it on. I put up an ad here on Ozbow and a few other places to try to help him out but had no bites. I didn't see him for about 18 months (he'd gone travelling), then 2 days ago he turns up here with the Dorado and insists I keep it as "you'll get good use out of it, I'll never use it properly" and wouldn't brook any talk of payment! We argued for a while but he wasn't having it, the bow was mine and that's all there was to it! So, there you go, I now (re) own a Dorado with quiver to fit! I've never had much interest in the "Modern Trad" scene, although I was always happy to see others enjoy that style, but it would be churlish of me to not have a good crack at this bow so I 'spose it's gunna be my regular for a while. Gotta love that!!

That's a cold ugly lookin' thing. No wonder the bloke didn't want it.

Yeah, but some folk say the same about me, Jeff, so the bow probably suits me!Stickbow Hunter wrote:That's a cold ugly lookin' thing. No wonder the bloke didn't want it.

She's a good shooter alright, and very fast, Bob, but even the wooden grip is artificial!

I seem to be provoking that response from you a lot lately, Boof! What could I do? Tell him I was insulted and insist he take it back home with him?LB rod 55 wrote:Wash your mouth out with soap Nephew

I'd sell it again at the first opportunity Craig, if it was me. I would then give the proceeds back to the guy who bought it off you. Life is too short to hunt with an ugly bow.
There is no use focusing on aiming if you don't execute the shot well enough to hit what your are aiming at.

Hi Craig.
Don't take any rubbish on that bow. It is a great piece of kit and they are all jealous.Nephew wrote:Yeah, but some folk say the same about me, Jeff, so the bow probably suits me!Stickbow Hunter wrote:That's a cold ugly lookin' thing. No wonder the bloke didn't want it.

We think alike on this issue, Mick, but no-one seems to want it. We argued pretty strongly over him wanting to give it back!Mick Smith wrote:I'd sell it again at the first opportunity Craig, if it was me. I took a bath on it when I originally sold it to him & willingly lost a fair bit on the deal trying to engage him in archery, but yeah, I must find a way to repay him.
I don't think it's ugly, but considering what greets me in the mirror each morning, what would I know?

You mustn't know me very well then as I am very far from being jealous.GrahameA wrote: It is a great piece of kit and they are all jealous.

Re: Twists and turns of life
Nephew,
As much as I think Hoyt missed the boat by not using an ILF as the attachment system, you have yourself a very very fine hunting bow...
It is a fine bit of kit , smooth , fast throws an arrow really well.

Re: Twists and turns of life
Thanks mate, I agree. I look forward to taking it hunting at least once before I sell it.
