Old Age and

#1 Post by Roadie » Tue Jul 02, 2013 7:57 pm

Ladders are not a good Mix.
Some of you know I have Bad Knees and so over the weekend I was doing something in the Shed and I needed to get some Timber from the Rack set up in the Roof. Well it had to happen, climbing the ladder right knee gave way, got leg & ankle caught between 2nd & 3rd rung, flat on my back on shed floor. Didn't think I did to much damage, got myself clear and tenderly walked around every thing seems OK.
Monday a little pain & swelling off ankle, Bride gives me a serve for not taking care, reminds me I am not 25 anymore. Off to the Drs & Xrays, results show have a Hair line Fracture of the right ankle. Bugger.
Right ankle strapped up, Pain Killers to help with the pain. STAY of the Ankle for at least a week. Dr says take it easy, Relax. Yeah Right. Been Grounded. Just as well I like reading, a third of the way through
Game Of Thrones. Cheers All. Roadie.

deary me Roadie.... I must say though, you have an interesting way of describing your "misfortunes" - not funny at all really, however the picture in my head of you dangling did make me a giggle a little.

Dare I say listen to the Doctor, however I know you wont, so then - listen to the Bride, otherwise we will all be giving you an ear full.
Enjoy the warmth of the indoors, a good book or two and of course a wee dram or three.

cheers

Hi Grant.

Hmmm.... Stay off ladders would be the lesson there.

Enjoy the read ..... are you knee deep in blood yet?

p.s Saw a programme from the history channel re Agincourt, it would appear that no one is really that certain where the battle actually was plus there is a bit of conjecture regarding the numbers involved compliments of Anne Curry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anne_Curry. Made for an interesting watch on what was a wet day.

Grant, much better to be grounded rather than undergrounded.

I know it is contrary to normal practice but instead of wearing my Dunlop Volleys on ladders I now put on my firmest high sided boots. I actually leave that pair next to the ladder in the garage. Standing on the rungs in the Volleys caused pain. When I was young I could spend hours at a time on a ladder. I reduced my high up in the garage storage.

Be careful and keep well otherwise I will have to do more work at Ironfest.

Grant the sole good thing to come out of your "numerous misfortunes" is that I have now realised I am not the only Klutz in the World. Look after yourself Mate

Thanks Perry. Update of ankle, 2nd Xray shows 2 slithers of Bone floating just above ankle, had some tablets and injection to try and dissolve the bone fragments and keep the swelling down, still pretty sore to touch, but otherwise all OK. Cheers Roadie.
