Arrow - New television series on the 9 network

General discussions. Politics, scuttlebutt, whatever: you're getting married, changing jobs, got a gripe or a compliment, dying to get out with the bow etc.....

Arrow - New television series on the 9 network

#1 Post by Mick Smith » Thu May 02, 2013 9:15 am

It premiered last night at 8.30pm here in Victoria. I assumed it aired in all states as well. Who watched it? What did you think of it?

Personally, I think Australia's military should seriously consider trading in their current weapons for takedown recurve bows. The hero's bow was far more effective than grouped masses of sub machine guns and automatic pistols and his bow was far, far more accurate and deadly than any firearm.

The story line could suck you in though, as it's one of those shows that reveals a small scrap of background information with each episode, in much the same manner of the TV series 'Lost'. Of course, my interest in archery is what originally twigged my curiosity about the show.
There is no use focusing on aiming if you don't execute the shot well enough to hit what your are aiming at.

Hi Mick,

I watched the series a few weeks back. The story line is average and at times predictable.

The archery segments are exaggerated in true Hollywood style.

Bottom line, entertainment for the masses.

How long before copies of the bow start popping up on Ebay etc??, I think you can still buy "Hunger Games" bows on the Landcaster site ( going very cheap  )

Cannot see it being a bad thing being on TV. Of course there will be the odd incident with kids hammering each other and lots of folk coming along to archery parks with inaccurate misconceptions but if it gets them off the couch and outside....great.

Makes my medieval archery hood cool again. Least he does not have a "men in tights" E. Flynn type Robin Hood hat.

I did not realise how deadly a slashing/ thrusting / parrying weapon a little black short a**e recurve could be.

Haven't seen it yet but the boss recorded it for me so I will have to have a look, the previews look entertaining. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with a bit of fantasy, as long as you don't take it to heart. There is a distinct difference between being entertained and learning something, as long as you can recognise the difference . As previously mentioned, it may lead to an influx of interest in archery amongst the young ones.

Cheers........ Rod

Its Batman with a bow and it is fine as a bit of escapism. 6 episodes in and I will give it a few more , before he kills to many people in the one city. Could get like Mid Summer Murders where there is no one left.
