Re: Archery comp in Afghanistan
just noticed too he's drawing the arrow on the wrong side of the riser also , definately wouldnt want to be behind or to the back right of the target .
They would have modern equipment available there , just as when you watch them shooting in Bhutan wearing traditional garb sporting the latest Hoyt compounds as well as using their traditonal made bows.

It looks like he is using a thumb ring, that would explain why the arrow is on the other side.Curvemeister wrote:just noticed too he's drawing the arrow on the wrong side of the riser also , definately wouldnt want to be behind or to the back right of the target .

Re: Archery comp in Afghanistan
Looks a similar to the Archery Game played in Mongolia. Might date back to when Chengis Khan sucessfully invaded Afganistan. Yep he's shooting with a Thumb Ring. What wrong with Metal Risers, been used for Centuries ????

Re: Archery comp in Afghanistan
Hope he shoots as poorly as me,the misses would be messy!!
Re: Archery comp in Afghanistan
Now that's pressure!
Re: Archery comp in Afghanistan
Condidering what they live with day to day, they probably consider being hit with an arrow not much to be concerned about.
Lately, if life were treating me any better, I'd be suspicious of it's motives!

You have to be joking
It makes you wonder how some people just don't have a clue on a lot of things.
You know what I mean.

Re: Archery comp in Afghanistan
Any idea where in the country it was? You can see snow capped mountains in the background, but there every where in that s**t hole. There's not much traditional head wear being worn and some of the people have a distinctively asiatic look about them, Hazaras maybe. North of country maybe?

That's why it looked a bit different, I've been to Tarin Kowt and Khandah. Ghazi looks a bit quiter.
