First trophy with the longbow - updated

First trophy with the longbow - updated

#1 Post by rodlonq » Fri Jun 29, 2012 2:34 pm

I've been laid up for a while with a hernia, getting over the operation now biut I haven't done any shooting or archery related craft for a good while. Luckily I'm a desk jockey nowdays so I can keep the family fed.

My Mum and Dad visited last week and old mate said he wanted to put my longbow in the woodwork section of the Burdekin Show with the articles him and Mum were entering. Not needing it for a while, I gave it to him to put in and :surprised:

Mum got a first prize for her Driftwood Hieroglyphic Pyrographic, Dad got a first prize for his large bowl and a second prize for the rolling pin with accents, my bow got a first prize and reserve champion of the show (with a $25 voucher from Girgo's paint and hardware).

Mum was pretty chuffed with it all and sent me some photos. I never thought it's first trophy would be a silk sash. I was hoping for a big billy or stinker, or even better a nice young meat animal for the freezer  . Anyways that's me braggin' done with. Thanks for lookin' and keep an eye open for photos of a real trophy.

Cheers.... Rod

Just over two years since Dad passed away, I put my latest bow in the local Ag show where we live now in Ingham. I did it mainly as a personal remembrance for Dad as he loved putting woodwork in the shows (see OP).

Well I was surprised to find it won the section and champion exhibit for woodwork. Hope Dad enjoyed the show  .

Sorry about the shoddy photography, still stuck with a phone camera.
