Draw weight and draw length?

General discussions. Politics, scuttlebutt, whatever: you're getting married, changing jobs, got a gripe or a compliment, dying to get out with the bow etc.....

Draw weight and draw length?

#1 Post by Stickbow Hunter » Mon May 21, 2012 1:42 pm

G'day Folks,

I was just interested to know what draw weight bows people are using and at what draw lengths. It would also be good if you could post the details of the type of bow/s you mostly shoot. I just thought it would be interesting is all. I will start.

Draw Weight: 59#
Draw length: 26.5"
Bow types: Hill style longbows and flat bow style self bows.

Thanks

Jeff

38 inches and 180lbs...

Oh, archery

Draw around 28 inches with a draw weight of 61#.
Either a D-R or an R-D longbow, not sure which, 66"NTN.

Currently one of my earliest straight laid longbows that ended up 'butt ugly' but very serviceable, owing to the belly lam slipping down on the glue up.. It is a bamboo cored, glass backed bow drawing 59# @ 28''. after shooting a couple of lighter bows I've made lately think I might go down to about 50# for trad shoots as the distance isn't far and a 50# er would be more than enough. I have two stuffed shoulders as it is.

Draw length is around 28"
2 Bows are ELB's,
I also have a Gringa, and I shoot All Bows of the Knuckle. (no shelf).
Poundage wise all Bows are 50lbs. Did have a 80 lbs but that shattered at full draw, so now only pulling 50lbs. Cheers Roadie.

Quite a collection of bows to tell the truth. I mostly play with a Gringa 65@ 28, and the Norseman 60# @ 28. Both Howard Hill style bows. 31 inch draw. ( there's 9 other longbows if I feel like a change   )
If you ain't smilling, your anchor point's to low

I shoot both a 57#@28" and a 64#@28" Gringa Hill style, and draw to 27.5" consistently if my form is on.

33 inches!!!! Man I'm 6'4'' and the most I've ever drawn is 31 1/2'' and then I had to get extensions on my woods to be able to fit a broadhead on. Guess you must tape bandaids on your knuckles eh?

I'm amazed at how many people have long draw lengths. I wasn't expecting that. A wide range of draw weights also.
