Shooters get to 50m to shoot, but only a hunter gets inside 20m to hunt.

Hi Fellas

It was a pretty darned good day. Lots of messages and sledging from well wishers - lunch with my workmates and a very nice night out with the wife, kids and my Mum and Dad.

Weekend coming and I might just get into the workshop!

Thanks Chaps. It was fun. And, as for the weekend, it was an utter corker. I had the morning to myself on Saturday so I pottered around fixing punctures in kids bikes and a pair of binoculars that got 4wded back in Feb (came up pretty good too). Helped a mate cut down some scabby cherry trees and I did a bit of work on a horsebow that a mate wants as a display item in a Yurt that he built and we recorded an album in. I stuffed up the inner core on the form, creating hinges where no hinges ought be (thanks Daryl). Anyhow I put a bamboo back on the left hand limb and took out a wobble. Will do the RH one this evening:

I made a handle for a little trowel that Little Miss Looseplucker wanted to use to grow stuff. I used a branch of osage. One of the things we planted was some osage seeds and some silverbeet and stuff. Anyhow, we also counted 8 pumpkins the size of pregnant soccer balls in the pumpkin patch (from the seeds of a big Qld Blue - oh, the irony! that Jindy gave Mrs Looseplucker last year):

I then got another piece of a branch of osage and had a go at making a handle for a broken chainsaw file. It still works on the saw and I use it for the preliminary edge on knives, broadheads etc. The big orange handle took up too much space in the bum bag so I made a slimline. Mostly sapwood but with a nice pattern in that came up pretty good with a bit of interior woodstain and some oil:

Then we went down to a jazz concert that was live to air on the ABC and had a lovely nap

You made good use of your time alright

But I am watching you from now on when you get your hands on a chainsaw, there is a bent gleam in your eye that could make a forrest nervous
