NUTGRASS is this True or a Lie.

#1 Post by Roadie » Mon Jan 30, 2012 5:37 pm

NUTGRASS Tell Me this is not So.
I have just spent the last 11 days in Tamworth, enjoying Bluegrass Music, as well as the Odd Jug Band, and Bush Bands, ETC. But was Blown away when several people informed me that the Odd Bundy and genuine Coke that I was enjoying is now Owned by a KOREAN Company.
Please tell me this is Not SO. Aust Bush Music & Bundy rum goes together. Cheers Roadie.

Yes mate, it was sold out to Diageo a few years back. I am not sure about korean though. I thought it was Europe based ????

I try not to think about who owns them any more. xxxx is owned by the Japs last time I heard. I can't give everything up  Lucky my port comes from local little wineries around Stanthorpe 8)

Coopers - Re: NUTGRASS is this True or a Lie.

#9 Post by GrahameA » Tue Jan 31, 2012 6:48 am

Roadie.

Look at it this way. People have a choice to buy what they want. My preference is to buy locally produced and locally owned however the product has to be competitive.

It always seems strange to me when the locally retailed product is substantially more than the same product from overseas.

Ever notice how the prices at the big two Supermarkets vary according to the local competition.

Now here is some good news:

Why you should drink Coopers instead of Fourex or VB http://www.arcba.com.au/uploads/Lager_l ... nation.pdf

Tasmania produces a range of Whiskies. Have considered Lark distilleries? They also distil rum. http://www.larkdistillery.com.au/our_pr ... erview.php

Ahhh Graehame good article, I'm a bit of a coopers pae ale fan, but heartbroken about James squire, little creatures and Matilda bay I had no idea they had a percentage of foreign ownership :(

Ay Grahame, I do drink Coopers Pale Ale and I'm into using Copers Home Brewing Kits as well.
And Yes the Malt whisky from Tasmania is great to drink as well, at the moment it's a little scarce on the Mainland, especially around my area, BUT I'm working on it. Cheers Roadie.

Now can we just put a list up for the other 99.99999% of things we need to survive that are "Australian owned" and we will be on our way

It ain't selling the business that bothers me ... Dick Smith just sells stuff made in China anyway and if I was a shareholder and the business wasn't any good I'd want it sold too ...

But when National Icons get sold ... bundy , vegemite ... well its just wrong I tells Ya !

I very very rarely purchase anything from major retailers because I don't want to give them the business ...

... Shop local !

Believe me it will cost us dearly make no mistake and I say that with no dis respect or malice to you

The problem isnt just the name that is sold, the land is going with it. We will never get that back. Try hunting on that property

If it is farming, meat processing, Australian Mining companies, it wont be long before they import their own work force to replace our Aussy jobs at a lesser pay rate, I can guarantee very few will get fair access to hunt there.

I have also heard through a couple of Customers of mine (well known in mining I might add )that some of the Chinese owned mines are pushing very hard to have "Air Ports" on their mining properties to fly product straight out and by passing any kind of customs. Of the many mines in Australia I am only aware of a couple that are ours the rest of them and the land is foriegn owned.

Before anyone wants to shove their foot in their mouths for a politically correct rant I happen to have "HEAVY" contacts in the Metal and Mining industries! What I am saying isn't Bull$hit! Again I say that with no dis respect or malice to anyone.

I would ask if they are flying "A" grade meat (or product) out what are the chances they will be flying 'B,C'D or E' grade meat (or product) back for us gullable fools to buy?

Maybe the "poms" will let us hunt for pigs in their cane fields if we bribe them with bottles of Bundy?
