All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy ...(pic heavy)

General discussions. Politics, scuttlebutt, whatever: you're getting married, changing jobs, got a gripe or a compliment, dying to get out with the bow etc.....

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy ...(pic heavy)

#1 Post by g_r » Sat Jan 28, 2012 3:16 am

Im spending nearly all of my time either working or learning for my Diploma at the moment, but today i just had to get out and shoot some stumps. We had a little snow today there wasnt even a breeze, made for some great experience and a few good shots (and more not so good of course ).
Just wanted to share some pics of the best 2 hours of my week so far, to encourage you to go out there and enjoy it, even if freetime is scarce.

Whereelse do you have stairs that are way older then 100 years in the middle of nowhere leading you comfortably to pull youre arrow

Some fresh deer sign:

This one was a bit risky for the arrow....but it was only ap.12 yards and i just had to try:

Some posing is inevitable

Another shot i had to try with little chance of success.....about 60-70yards id guess
(The stump is slightly left of the red dot)

No hit but 3 of 5 got near

Thanks for looking!

P.S. The last one is dedicated to Moreton and his efforts to quit smoking  Sorry mate, couldnt resist.

Looks like a ball mate, you have a bit of snow, we are having a lot of rain
It's great to see others just out & about shooting some targets, makes me think we are not crazy for doing it all the time

Thanks for sharing 8)

Shooters get to 50m to shoot, but only a hunter gets inside 20m to hunt.

Well...at least SOMEONE is dedicating SOMETHING to me! Don't give 'em up, Axel, it will be nice to have another smoker in camp. Less lonely!

Love the scenery Axel, how good is that! How do the fingers go releasing the string in that kind of cold weather mate?

Hi Hazard,

that day these pics were taken it was only about 0 to -1°C, so nothing to worry about and to be honest i dont fell any difference in the fingers at all.

But since today we got a coldweather from Russia coming in, its -9 °C right now with a rough breeze from the East and if i would go out today i think id need gloves and a pocket-oven to being able to keep shooting.
The forecast says on the Weekend we`ll have about -15°C, so if all works as i want i can tell you next wekk how shooting with numb fingers works
