IF???

#1 Post by greybeard » Thu Apr 28, 2011 9:28 pm

The archery gods had a bad day and decreed that an archer/bow hunter can only have one bow.

They destroyed all your bows      and you must choose a new one.

What bow [no price limit] would you choose? 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

If you shoot various disciplines you are still restricted to one bow.

Daryl.

Hi Terry and Rod I left out a line.

Border Black Douglas with Hex V limbs - carbon overlays, horn overlay, finger grooves - basically what I'm shooting now :)

I would first refer the Archery Gods to Ozbow in the hope that better sense prevails. If not, I will have to be content with my Bear Montana with SBD strings. Rather the Montana than go through that charade with postal customs again. Corrupt sods!

A loaded question Daryl. If the Archery God [ only one mate, but thats another thread  ] was unhappy I'd want to know "Why". If it was a simply a bad hair Day I'd choose a Bernadini Cobra Riser and a set of what ever brand Carbon Foam deflex reflex limbs.

If old mate Archery God was fed up with the whole Compound Vs Trad Vs Technology bit [ we are all Archer's ] and issued a new commandment "thou shalt drag your Knuckles" , I'd set things right and make myself a new Gnarly bent twisted lenticular cross section Selfbow and be more than content.

Hi Daryl.

Hmmm......

Well considering that I would still want to shoot Trad and ILF is frowned upon in such I would go for a Modern Version of a Hoyt Pro Medallist. Could shoot target disciplines and could convert it back to comply with Trad rules. Plus I could still Hunt etc., with it if I wanted.

Note: their is more Trad than what is shot in Aus - eg US Trad http://usarchery.org/resources/rules-re ... onal-rules

Could not decide so I put three into a hat and let Apollo decide..Even getting it down to three was a chore.

Apollo guided my hand and ...... ILF Bernadini Cobra Riser and Hexx5 recurve limbs.

Steve......wrong.
You would need to make two Steve bows.

Seeing as I really only use the one bow for most things, I would get an upgrade from my flat laid 43# bow to a deflex/reflex version a few pounds heavier. Bamboo of course with some Zebrano.

Greybeard
It would have to be similar so i could still use all my old arrows.

I currently shoot a 17" ILF riser, but in your scenario, I guess I can't use multiple sets of limbs, because the Archery god would think I was cheating. If it's one bow, then I guess I'd want one bow crafted and setup by a bowyer with skills, rather than my current setup of tweeking bits from different manufacturers to find the 'perfect' platform.

I do like the concept of modern materials, so while untested, I'll ask for a Border Griffin GL.
A traditional looking longbow with carbon enhanced limbs.

Hey dmm, if Daryl is right and there is more than one Archery God, I reckon you'd be right to keep 1 riser and keep a set of limbs per Archery God. After all "Archery Lore" is open to interpretation as so often displayed on this forum. You could sacrifice a Deflex Reflex and a set of Carbon Arrows to placate them also.
