Longbow

#1 Post by piggy » Mon Apr 25, 2011 5:03 pm

While in the USA earlier this year I was fortunate to hunt with an old school bowhunter and boyer in Texas, I enjoyed listening to his stories of bowhunting in the deep south of the US from the late 50's to present day.
Like many bowhunters from the day it was a real adventure and he has been sending me many photographs and recordings of his hunts, pretty cool.
Anyway he made ma a longbow made of Myrtle Diamondwood, Actionwood , tip overlays are Gems Bock it look awesome and hopefully I can shoot some shafts tomorrow.

Looks like a nice bow mate but the photos are a bit small. Try making them 800 pixels on their long sides. :D

That is better mate but they could still be a little bigger. :D

It looks like he has written a personal message on the bow to make it all that much more special to you. I look forward to seeing you with some game taken with it. Have you got a photo of it strung or at full draw? I'm sure the Ol' Fella would have some very interesting yarns to tell!!!

Nice bow, bloke! :D
Lately, if life were treating me any better, I'd be suspicious of it's motives!

Very nice bow, and by the sounds of it made by very experienced hands, wouldn't mind seeing the writing on the bottom limb though, that personal touch certainly carries sentiment.

Lovely bow mate and coming with a ready made history, just all the more special.

The sharp angular abruptness of the riser fadeouts is very interesting. I like the look of it BTW, it is different. Gluing such a directional change for the glass would, I thought , been a bit tricky.

Sweet Bow.

A beautiful looking bow Piggy, and the fact that you know the bowyer and the little message put on the bow as well would make it a special one. Here's wishing you luck as you hunt for your first kill together.
