Please keep your fingers crossed...

Please keep your fingers crossed, and your thoughts with the residents of Qld and NSW who are currently battling through the current flood crisis.

Some pics of my local area...at this stage LBrod55, Gidget and myself are staying fairly dry...Yowie is copping a fair amount of flooding in his area.

Been keeping in touch with Rod about the floods, as He knows my friend Ferdy at Mundubra, Ferdy said he was safe and dry ,but the bridge out of his place was 6mtrs under water and he's not to sure if it is still there. Thinking of you fellas. By the way, HAPPY NEW YEAR people. Lets hope the waters start to recede soon. Cheers Roadie.

A lot of people throughout the state have been affected by the floods; I hope the waters recede quickly and the folks affected are able to get on top of things as quick as possible.

So went out & about for a look at the floods today. 26th Dec 2010

Standing at the mower shop looking down towards Kennedy bridge with the cricket grounds on the left & the marching rounds on the right.

The Kendall's flat's cricket grounds

Towards the floating pontoon down near the bundy bell

A few pics whilst standing on the old traffic bridge. The tide had peaked while we were there, but once it started to drop the water was absolutely flying

More rain here & upstream says the river is rising & will be for a couple of days at least. 28th December 2010

Looking from near the by wash over Kendall's flats cricket grounds.
Image

Lake Allen (sp) near the by wash at the western end of baldwin swamp. There is a massive play ground under all that water, only a few of the tall climbing toys are peaking through.
Image

Image

Image

On the other side of the road is a flat paddock that use to be a dump site, they have recently put a flat bitumen track on there for the cycling club to practice on. I think they might lease it out tot he rowing club for a bit.
Image

Back down near the mower shop I was standing near to take the pics of the cricket grounds & marching club the other day. The road is now closed off & under 4 feet or so of water in places,

Marching grounds

This looking form the north end of the marching grounds near shoe steel, over looking the marching grounds & the cricket grounds in the distance

A couple of the river from near the old marine tafe across from shoe steel

We did the old traffic bridge walk again, although got drowned & only made it halfway this time ;-)
But this boat floated out of the slipway & down the river  it somehow floated out into the middle & missed everything as it went down the river

So back under the bridge for a couple of shots of the water height on the bridge pillars. Don't worry about my water marks, something has gone wrong in the process & I couldn't be bothered fixing it today  [oops] Compare the pics above.

Over to targo street to have a look how home hardware & the stihl shop was fairing   Compare to the pics above to see how far it has come up again....

If the water reaches the stihl sign, it has reached the top story of their building. That is where they shifted the stock to as it has only ever flooded up there twice [oops]

Zook & I got up & headed out for some pics early this morning. Pics here are taken between 5:30-7am this morning Thursday 30th December 2010.

To carry on from the flowers yesterday, it now resembles an Island Florist

The local Plumbing supplies where I buy most of my gear

Image

The harley & beull dealer, if you look closely, there are several pipes hanging out the front windows, they must have a couple of pumps going to keep the waters inside at bay
Image

Image

The Yacht you see at the end of this walkway is somewhere near where I was standing to start taking these photos
Image

Back under the bridge so you can see the heights, the concrete path I have been standing on for these pics has the water lapping at the very top of it, if water comes up 50mm I will not be able to take this pic anymore

Some serious gas cylinders bobbing about down at midtown mariner

QR off for a few photo's this morning ;-)

Image

The water on the new bridge is high, I would guess if we ever get a flood that equals the 1942 floods this bridge will go under & at a guess cop some serious damage

Plenty of this going on, to get into the Bundy CBD you have to travel to west bundy & follow that road in.

Can't imagine what it feels like to be a victim of flooding. Looks terrible...

I will be driving up to Gladstone on Monday, is it still possible to drive through Bundaberg or even Gladstone?

I don't think you will have any problems getting to Gladstone by then mate or even now. You don't have to go through Bundaberg to get to Gladstone.

We are stuck in brissy area trying to get home to North West QLD.
With 3 kids in tow we don't particularly want to risk driving up through Rocky in case we get stuck there just as the road gets cut.
Have been stuck for a week now..... Tried to get out through Gatton last monday, hit a flooded creek and had to go up through hampton and then got turned around at dalby just as the roads got cut there last Monday. Then tried to go north last Wed just as the roads got cut near Gin Gin. You sort of get burnt and don't feel like trying again when you get stuck a couple of times.
Extended holidays are good by gee it would be nice to be at home.
At least we are dry and safe.
