Mayall knives

#1 Post by UPTHETOP » Tue Jul 06, 2010 2:36 pm

There was some great knives up at the Tully shoot on the weekend. They are a real credit to Paul.
It was good to see someone so young so involved with steel, wood and leather.
He will be around for a long time to come being so young and is good to know that in the future there will be many knives such as these hanging from the hips of bow hunters.

Cheers Wayno

Jeff, you should know that you can never have too many knives or bows; although, our wives would disagree!!
About right in regards both observations mate. :?

Hey Wayno,

they are stunning workmanship! I particularly like the GR one like you and Tony. The timber selection in the handle is brilliant and adds something special to the knife. I'd love to know what timbers they are.

Pauls work is inspired, I love to see someone so invested in their craft that they can produce such top level work. Reminds me of Steve Jawerth.

cheers

I like the almost Ulu like skinner. Pauls skinning knives are unique and although I've not yet had one in my hand, I'm certain they are very good for the purpose for which they were made. The knives on his website are works of art!
Lately, if life were treating me any better, I'd be suspicious of it's motives!

Fantastic workmanship! I really like the one on the far right with the hole in it. I saw one without the finger hole once and it was called the mouse, do you have another name for it what do you call that style of knife Paul?

the big wide skinner is custom made for a bloke his design . the handle is tiger murtle form tas
the other little knife has conkerberry and hair oak handle combo and silver ash strip to . the first one i glued up after rob showed me how to do it.

The handles look fantastic, in combination with the glues and the pins you have reinforced it with they are going to be extremely durable. Near indistructable!
