New Camp Knife - RETRO Old School

#1 Post by gundy » Mon Dec 28, 2009 4:22 pm

Got this from a fellow forumite in a trade.

Should make a very nice camp knife!

Its a Randall Airman #15 with carbon steel 5.5" blade. Very comfortable handle and brilliant sheath. I have had a few of the Randall 15's, but this would have to be the nicest of them. They all have the same blade shape & grind (unless spear point with saw teeth), however they do come in an assortment of handle designs...very nice.

The compass add on is from Hedgehog Leatherworks...

What a knife :)

That knife is a great example of the perfect allrounder (if there is ever such a thing), you could be out in the bush with just that one knife and get along quite well.

Agreed Jindy!

Dare I say it, I think I have found....the one.

I was a bit put off by the double guard at first, but the more I handle it, the better it feels. Its one of those, 'big/little' knives which should be able to handle just about anything to just shy of an axe.

Yeah, I agree it does look like a good all rounder. I like the blade.

That might be stretching things.

I agree Jindy, that is a fantastic looking knife. Actually looks about as close to my perfect knife that I have seen for a long time. I like the double guard in looks but yeah feel may take some getting used to.
