attack of the grinder poor helpless axe

have been mugged by my grandsons into helping and getting bits and pieces for there cub group one of these was some axes used ex german army 1.5kg a bit big for some so have started to alter them this is the first one a wip still to be finished now 0.8kg a bit better :) this one is by far the thickest so will make a good little splitting maul the rest are thinner so will make good cutters cheers

not that bad to do as the steel is surprisinly good quality for cast 2 hrs work so far tools used 9" grinder with 1.6mm thk disc 4.5" grinder with ceriun flapdisc and an old wolf straight grinder with an 80 grit flapwheel the others should be easier cheers

got a 2nd one started today its a thinner blade so had to watch the heat input its not such a good casting finish so will take a bit more work still to make lanyards and finish helves but it WILL shave hair impressed :shock: it is only 0.75kg from a start of 1.35kg have tried to show them both beside my little gerber will also have to make covers they will be sent with the boys to camp next week for testing BY adults and senior scouts if they are all right will make 3 more with the troop numbers on them any ideas for paracord lanyards or some wrapping cheers
