A new level....Forge Welding

#1 Post by kimall » Sun Jul 26, 2009 5:26 pm

I did some more forge welding of some wire cable today to make a letter opener for the bosses b/day.I really took my time with it and ran the forge a bit hotter than before and the results are very pleasing. The blade section is almost 200 long and has no inclusions in it at all.Its the first time I have managed to get a complete weld and am wrapped.I also have been wanting to make a blade with the double grinds just to see if I could do it so gave that a go as well and although it needs a bit more grinding on it to get the grinds perfect it will be nice when finished.I will post some better pics when it is finished as I ran out of light today.
Cheers KIM

I have almost finished with this piece of old rope and it has come up nice I think.I am still undecided if I should put wooden scales on the handle or just leave it the polished steel.
