Another spike knife...

#1 Post by kimall » Sun Jul 05, 2009 11:45 am

This is the pig sticker version 2 as the other one didnt work out I decided on a rail spike this time.
Since Tracker has made the whole rail spike knife thing into a competition I had to think of a way to take it to the next level.I am happy with the results and think the new owner will be happy too.The handle wood is hairy oak and overall length is about 12 inches.
Cheers KIM...
PS Your roll Tracker.... :P

Jeepers but you're winning by a mile now matey... lol. That is a nice bit of gear. I wish I could do the grinds like that.

Halfway through a sort of axe/chopper thing here...

Ok finally found some spikes but mine seem to be tiny, there about 12cm long  Found half a dozen or so and some other bits and pieces, going to have a go at shaping them tonight. If i dont have an anvil on me what else could i use that would be suitable? Also, can i use fire beads to heat the fire?

Mate that IS the size they come in now you can see the work that goes into getting it 30cm.
Fire beads are used by some I believe but have not tried it myself yet.A old piece of rsil track can be used to hammer on as a starter.
