First Knife... First Time - Pic Heavy

#1 Post by Hills Twinky » Sun Dec 07, 2008 11:49 pm

Gday all, after finding myself with some spare time after work today i got cracking and what i hope will become a new hobby amongst my other pleasures (my bow :P) But yeah, for about 4 months now i have been admiring every ones knives and despite wanting one i really wanted to just make one so i got dad to drag out his used saw blades and well just got cracking!

The blade shape is a 'Cape Skinner' just looked interesting and it took me about 6 hours straight which includes the polishing and sanding though i am not done yet and hope to have a nice jarrah handle by tomorrow arvo.
I was hoping on some advice for the blade edge cos i cant seem to get the grinding line on the edge properly, ie; tools or methodology.
Cheers guys hope you enjoy the pics (sorry if they are a bit dodgy)

After working on it further both yesterday and today with my mate carl (whom is also making his own 8) ) we worked the scales and well the pics below show the fruits of our labour, i used jarrah for the scales. I used brass screws for my pins, the thread aides in the holding together and i just ground them down..

ps: keep and eye out for carls knife (Hill Billy), should be really awesome
