AUCTION..... to help OZBOW

#1 Post by JensenEliteBlades » Mon Oct 20, 2003 2:34 am

Well Guys and Gals,
im sure all of you are like me ,enjoying the OZBOW experience. The chance to meet, interact , and learn from people who share the same passion is invaluable.
OZBOWS commitment to sourcing , preserving , and developing the skills of old is something we all appreciate and and probably take for granted......but it does have costs....... and up until now ,one man has worn all the costs associated in setting up and maintaining this great place.......THANKYOU ERRON !!!!!!!
Lets ease the costs for Erron......and here is why:

OZBOWs membership has grown considerable in the last few month, and traffic within the site increases daily. OZBOWs webspace and bandwidth are reasonably limited at the moment, and to keep the site as open and user friendly(eg: posting pics) as possible we need to expand .This will allow us more room for archiving and "How To" areas, as well as opening the door for some nice " extras" .

Erron has never put his hand out for help in funding, but this is what i propose:
This big jump in website size has a pricetag of around $200....... to fund all or most of this , I have donated one of my knives (pictured below) to be auctioned to raise funds for OZBOW.
100% of the sale funds will go to OZBOW (ill cover the knife and shipping)
Bidding will begin immediately.... and only bids posted in THIS thread will be counted.
Bidding closes Monday 3rd of November, 2003 at 2100hrs AEST
The winning bidder is expected to make prompt payment after close of bidding.
Once Erron has received the Auction funds, i will ship the knife to the winner , by registered mail.

Questions may be directed to myself or Erron via email.

Please be generous with your bids..... and help show your support for OZBOW.

And here is what you are bidding for:

The knife is a handmade hunter.... blade is V-ground from 1/8" thick D2 tool steel. The handle is micarta, secured with copper pins and epoxy.
Sheath is leather covered kydex.

As I know very intimately  the costs of running a website, and I'm very much in support of Erron's efforts I'll be good for $150; at least until someone betters it! :P Go on, I dare ya :D

Well, what can I say?

I'm humbled, and almost speechless! (You don't get away from me that easily!)

Thanks heaps Peter, and you guys for showing your support!

I also want to make it clear that I appreciate that not everyone can cough up the readies on occasions like this, and am deeply grateful and indebted to those of you who also show your support through giving of your expertise and opinions when you post. Combined, you are what make Ozbow what it is, and what it will be in the future! Bless your good hearts, one and all!

Cough splutter pinch m'self!
Cough splutter pinch m'self!
Cough splutter pinch m'self!

Cough splutter pinch m'self!

... repeat ad infinitum.

Danny, I hope my simple 'thanks!' doesn't offend; it's just I lack the superlatives to express myself right now!

Geeze that's a bit harsh aint it...using the almighty green back to force us Aussies using the spineless AUD out of the running (well for me anyways...maybe  )... where's the code of ethics for auctions Erron

I can only echo Peter's thanks, everyone!

The proceeds will certainly keep Ozbow afloat, as well as help promote both the site and Traditional in OZ. I hope to announce an advertising strategy in the near future! :)

Thank You!

Thanks everyone. It is my pleasure to help Erron and the site. Thought I would try to get some action going and you let me win.
