My Knife

#1 Post by memo » Thu Mar 31, 2005 7:44 pm

Here is my trusty old knife. It was made by Brian Morgan in Albury around 1990(?). It is a bit over 9 inches overall, with a blade a touch over 4 inches. Handle is Sambar antler. Cannot for the life of me remember what steel the blade is, but keeps a good edge.
When I was about 15, I broke about half a centimetre off the tip, taking off a Billy's head. So that got ground out by the knife maker, and has been accompanying me in my travels every day in the bush since.
Cheers, Memo

Memo,

Thanks for sharing the info and photos. That old knive could tell some tales hey?

I have a Kershaw folder that has been bush with me for around twenty years now and still going strong. It's just a production knife but has given me great service during all these years.

Looks like a beauty. I have old k-bar looking around for a new one. I like to buy something made here.

Thats a nice looking knife mate. Good size. I reckon a lot of blokes get a bit carried away and buy a knife thats too big. Maybe pig hunters can justify carrying a big blade, cause it might be needed for last ditch self defence. A smaller knife is much nicer to carry and will do as good a job or better than a larger knife.

Your knife kinda reminds me of my old Puma Hunters Pal (different shape, I know). I bought it with one of my very first pay packets. I think it was about $19.00 or so. I carried that knife everywhere till some bastard burgled my home and took it about 10 years ago. I bought a new one, same make and model. Its good, but not quite the same. Still a very good all round knife though.

Yours is a real nice sheath too. Couldn't help but notice the camo background. I haven't seen that pattern before. Is it effective?

Thanks for showing us your trusty old companion.

Mick
There is no use focusing on aiming if you don't execute the shot well enough to hit what your are aiming at.

Wow, thanks for the compliments guys. Didn't expect praise for my old knife thats for sure!
Mick, the camo is from 'Stoney Creek' clothing. I got it from NZ when I was there last year. Mate, unfortunatley I haven't been out hunting with it, but I think that I may have to 'road test' it soon
Cheers,
Memo
