Re: Stone cold cutter...
looks great mate!
i reckon they'd go great as limb tip overlays or in the riser - maybe even veneres on the limbs!
couldn't be good for performance, but some people like that sort of thing.

Re: Stone cold cutter...
Looks excellant Mate, what Steel have you used for the Knife ? Forged at Home aswell ?
Kim I was out on a Bushwalk this Arvo and walked across a section of track where a load of broken up Granite / Quartz etc had been dumped and graded into the Track to fill a Boghole. First thought was that some of it was quite pretty and I thought "Kim would look for suitable sized pieces for Knife Scales" Next thought was that some of it had quite sharp edges and I mused I'd come back with a Hammer Stone and an Antler Tine and play at Knapping

Re: Stone cold cutter...
Thanks guys for the comments..
Perry the blade is hand forged from some antique saw mill blade.I have used this on prob. 15 knives now and it always comes up great after the heat treat.I like a steel that is simple as I do it all myself at home. Each piece of granit is differant and I love the way the knife emerges in your hands as you make it.I will be making many more.
Cheers KIM

Re: Stone cold cutter...
Thanks Haz I have really tried to take the sheaths to a level above just something to hold the knife safe. This is the first time I have done the tooling and am not really a fan but a bit more practice on some scrap may change my mind.

Kim I like this http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com.au/e ... 00-00.aspx Basket Weave Stamping Tool, it can be used for several different patterns. Here's a how too link for the Arrow Head Design

I really like the Arrow Head design, very simple and it looks excellent on a Knife Sheath
