hoping to ID..... anyone reconize maker?

#1 Post by hardgainer » Tue Jan 29, 2013 10:36 am

Picked up a interesting well made Bowie at the LB100 Oz day weekend. Its marked Vila Flor made in Spain with a Canary Island etch on the blade sharpened clip and solid wooden scarbard timber unknown.Looks like a boot knife. Sold brass guard and bolster. Handle some type of hardwood unmarked. Knife has some age 30/40 years from day of previous owners purchase. Blade 180 overall 300.Seems more worker than tourist. There is some limited ref in Blade Forum and other sites but still a mystery package. Any help on Vila Flor history appreciated.

Ahhhhh David he who moves in the shadows .I just headed off Blakey. Terry got its twin with Antler handle.
I now think maybe it is a kit knife offered in 70/80s made in Spain for promotional stuff.By who dont know.
It seems they sold a few in the US as CAS and worldwide as whatever (etched accordingly)
Surprisingly solid with a mean edge. Handle ID as maybe Rosewood??

Thanks for the comment Rod......this one sure is a mystery package. I was incorrect when I said CSA I meant CVA
(Connecticut Valley Arms) .It is really well made and has a deadly edge. Maybe the handle is Walnut.
Someone out there must know.I have seen several blades daggers and bowies that are identical but the owners are asking the same question Who :?: :?: :?:
