Always been a acquirer and never a maker so this is the first effort at knife assembly Elk handle was by Robert Roberts who I think does great scrimshaw.
Bowie is 13inchs long Blade 8 inchs. Now to try a sheath to match.

Ok, I agree a very nice looking knife, so if you don't mind I would like to ask a couple of questions.
I would like to know what are the steel spec's and how was the grind produced on the blade.

Ok, I'm sorry I missed the assembly part, for a kit knife it's still a good looking item but even I would have checked out what grade of carbon steel was in use, to hard and to hard to sharpen and keep sharp to soft and your always asking why and as for the grind was it concave or a 20 degree bevel that's all I was asking. And when it comes to producing a sheath give Pery a call now there's a gentleman with a wealth of knowledge. Thanks, again it is still one hell of a good looking piece of equipment.

I like that Knife, Tony could you run us through a few details with the Assembly process and the Kit. Stuff like, does the Handle need fitting, degree of polishing etc etc. With my limited experience making Knives I run out of patience long before I get a quality finish

Perry has kindly offered to help with info on the leatherwork which is great.
The problem with the blade Bill is it appears at this stage to hold a pretty mean edge
and filing the tang handle end to fit the handle was a slow process it was as hard as hell
but it is a Wazribad special $20 which means it could be a recycled refrigerater.
They will tell you its 58 60 HRC but I would not be to sure.
Its a Roadie likeness for sure.

If you had some way of immersing the blade horizontally in water with the tang outside and applying a measure of heat to just the tang and allowing to cool it would make the tang much easier to work and less prone to snapping at the hilt although that would be very unlikely to happen.

In my humble opinion the standard of blades now coming out of some of these countries has improved markedly...(I know this may be somewhat of a sensitive topic). I have custom blades that I have paid alot of money for, and I will contiunue to support custom builders but as an 'assembler' myself.....this is a good avenue to buy a cheaper blade or parts and work on ones skills.

Hi Pete....will send detail.... apart from previous cautious comments on blade these Pakistani efforts are showing signs of not being to bad at all.
Just picked up a 17" Bowie blank for $15 complete with double brass guard shipping $18.00.

Must make mention and thank again.... Perry sent me a disk set of the full Sheath making process which will save me a lot of pain.
Very informative mate and very much appreciated. There sure are some generous folks in the Trad scene.
