Neck knife

#1 Post by littlejohn » Sat Jan 21, 2012 6:57 pm

Hi Fellas,

Here is a neck knife I recently finished
OAL: 6"
Blade : 2 1/2" High carbon steel...(blank..I did the handle work and sheath only)
Handle: 3 1/2" Bimble box burl (Eucalyptus family), with wenge accent
Sheath: Hand stitched bridle leather.

There are a number of defects that are obvious, the main one being that I lost a chunk of the handle timber near a pin while finishing on a linisher...

I heard little 'snick' noises every now and then which caused a crack or actually took a small chunk of timber out of the handle....

I am a beginner..so it's all a learning curve...

Regards....Pete

This is a top effort Pete, you should be happy with it. Did you plaitt the Cord or is it a store bought one. If you plaited it I'm jealous, be buggered if I can master it. I've been carrying a Neck Knife in the Field for a couple of years now, really practicle bits of kit.

Thanks fellas,

Jacko,
I planned on trying a plaitt myself but I saw the one I ultimately used for a good price so it was all too easy to run with that..

I am a knife nut and I love all styles but I agree with you...the neck knife format is very handy and versatile..

Regards...Pete
