Works of art, no less! Beautiful!
Lately, if life were treating me any better, I'd be suspicious of it's motives!

Very nice; you obviously aren't going to use all those knives so are you collecting certain makes?

Thanks guys.....been collecting a while Jeff mainly towards the nicest examples of obsidian types and antler carving I can find. I really like the effect when light passes through the blades. The skills of the better crafts men never fail to amaze.

Well you sure are going to have an excellent collection mate. You will have to do a photo of them all together.

Those knives are certainly very beautiful and obviously collector pieces. Thank you for putting up the photos.

Assuming one had the time and patience to learn to make a knife like that, probably not as fancy (I would never be able to do that, just not arty enough) but lets say just as functional. What methods would one use to maintain a workable edge on it? Would it be simply a case of honing it against a large flat stone?

I would be very happy with myself if I could make a basic bush knife from stone that could be used to skin and butcher the spoils of a primitive hunt (with a knapped braodhead of course) :D. I have already written a letter to Santa asking for a flint knapping kit with instructions, and gave it to my dear wife to post for me . For anyone that is interested I found a site that reckons they can supply aussie stone for knapping - http://www.aussieminerals.com/aussiemin ... r_sale.htm.

Cheers............ Rod
