The funeral

Got a joke too good to keep to yourself? This is where to put it. While all the other Campfires are expected to be reasonably 'serious' in nature, this is where we let our hair down.

The funeral

#1 Post by looseplucker » Mon Nov 12, 2012 11:40 am

OK - there is this lady, Mavis, rural type, and her husband George dies. Well into is 80s as is she. A young undertaker is talking to her at the Funeral Home (why do they call it a home?). He's discussing how George should be done up as Mavis had asked about an open lid and such.

'Well' said Mavis 'George always promised me that he would take me darncing and he never did. And I can picture him now in a blue double breasted 3 piece suit, guiding me around the floor' She gets out a hanky and wipes away a tear.

'But he never did, and I never saw him in the blue suit.....'

Your man checks the budget. It is very tight. 'I'm sorry', he says 'but I dont think that the budget you've given me will stretch to a suit like that'. Mavis looks crestfallen. The young fellow takes pity and says 'I'll see what I can do'.

Anyhow, comes the day and everyone rocks up to see George off. And there he is - resplendent in the blue double breasted 3 piece suit that Mavis had dreamed of. Lovely. After the formal part of proceedings they go to the local bowls club for sambos and drinks. Mavis gets into the sherry. The young undertaker shows up. 'Young man!" trills Mavis 'what a wonderful job you did with George. That suit. Perfect! I could have darnced the night away with my George looking like that. How did you manage it'.

'Well', he says - 'I have another client this afternoon and he and your George were roughly of a size and he owns the suit so....well'.

'You didn't!" says Mavis 'You didnt borrow his suit?!?!?'

'Oh no' says your man. 'I switched their heads'.
Are you well informed or is your news limited?

Politics is a game played by dishonest people to gain an unfair advantage!

Never under estimate the strength of a cornered coward.

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.
