buford's quiz

Got a joke too good to keep to yourself? This is where to put it. While all the other Campfires are expected to be reasonably 'serious' in nature, this is where we let our hair down.

this ain't really humour, but it don't fit anywhere else.

i have gone off brain teasers, people get em too quick! :?

so i have decided to give questions on tunes, and to keep it fair, i will throw in a few from the older generations as well. :P

first one shall be an easy one to so you can get the idea....

but thats close enough. that was just to get the ball rolling!

now try this one, its moving up a little on the timeline..........

name this song. Artist and title. :D

Waiting on a Sunday afternoon
For what I read between the lines,
your lies
Feelin like a hand in rusted shame
So do you laugh or does it cry?
Reply?

Leavin on a southern train
only yesterday you lied,
Promises of what I seemed to be
only watched the time go by,
All of these things you said to me

Breathing is the hardest thing
to do with all I've said and
all thats dead for you,
you lied -- Good Bye

Leavin on a southern train
Only yesterday you lied,
Promises of what I seemed to be
Only watched the time go by,
All of these things I said to you.

as most of you guys are from an era of animal print spandex and face make up (musically speaking of course! )

i will give you a clue... the album this song appeared on went to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts (US) and was released on june 7, 1994. It was the bands' second album:D

no idea? :?

another clue maybe? :)

the lead singer was arrested in 1995 for possession of heroin and cocaine, and was sentenced to a rehabilitation program.
Following his completion of the program, the band recorded their third album. Released in the spring of 1996, it entered the charts at number four. Shortly after its release, the band announced that the lead singer had relapsed and entered a drug rehabilitation facility, thereby canceling the group's plans for a summer tour.

i know this could be anyone in the music industry :D but if you do a little research, this should have given it away.

cheers

am i the only one on this site who knows the 'Stone Temple Pilots'? :o

c'mon, they have been around for over 10 years. :?
numerous number 1 hits? 5 albums?

it appears i had better keep the subjects to well known international acts?

ok, heres' an easier one......

'Status Quo' released two albums in 1980, one had a song on it written by John Fogerty. What was that album, and what was the name of the song?

Yeah Probably!

Don't know about 1980 but in 1977 Status Quo released the "Rockin' All Over the World" album and the first single was of the same name and it was John Foggerty's song.

The good Ol' Seventies. Now that has to be better music than from the 'Stone Temple Pilots'? :D

you are both right, in a way.

yes that was the song, and yes it was first released in 1977......

The question was suppost to lead you away from the answer because that song was also re-released on 'Twelve Gold Bars' in 1980. :D
i thought i was being clever by not directly asking when it was FIRST released. :D

obviously you know much about them.

next.....

Cliff Richard, dominated the pre-Beatles British pop scene in the late '50s and early '60s as a solo artist and with "The Shadows" and "The Drifters".
He remains an institution in Britain, where he is one of the nation's most popular all-around entertainers of all time. Cliff Richard however, is not his birth name.
What was his origional name and where was he born? (without looking it up! your only cheating yourself!) :D

W R H B A Y R B E

each letter is only used once.

Dang.

OK wise guy - we all know what The Monkees' Mike Nesmith's mother was famous for, right? Do you know the name of the TV series drummer Mickey Dolenz starred in as a child? How about the West End musical lead singer Davey Jones starred in before The Monkees? And who directed The Monkees weird, trippy movie called Head?
And for bonus points, which star of film and TV's son had an encounter with Charles Manson before the Tate murders?

Schmuck is it?

Well I thought Jack Nicholson directed 'Head'. And it was Doris Day's son - but nothing happened to him. He was the previous owner of the house Sharon Tate and 3 others killed in.

Always a pleasure ...

It's a Christmas song, right? White Christmas? Santa Claus is Coming to Town?

Oh and won't belabour the point but it wasn't Doris Day's son's house when the murders happened - he'd sold it to Sharon Tate and husband Roman 'I like em young' Polanski by then.
