Many years ago I actually saw a peewee[ peewit] walking around our yard with a young very demanding chick that couldnt be satisfied despite the best efforts of its exasperated mother. Finally unable to endure its continuous squarking she lashed out with an outstretched wing and clobbered the chickwith her wing. The chick ended up laying on its back with both legs skyward and the stunned look on its face was priceless! So even the animal kingdom believes corporal punishment is sometimes justified.

Long ago we rescued a young magpie from death at the beaks of a group of crows. He quickly decided that he must have been destined to be a human child. He certainly displayed an interesting personality and we reckoned he even had a sense of humour... hmmm - material for discussion around a campfire some night.
