My lad the state champion

Got a joke too good to keep to yourself? This is where to put it. While all the other Campfires are expected to be reasonably 'serious' in nature, this is where we let our hair down.

My lad the state champion

#1 Post by stringnstik » Wed Mar 02, 2011 7:25 pm

Yo gotta hand it to my boy.
We are currently downloading from him, his escapades whilst on his very first school camp.
I asked what activities they did and one of the things he mentioned was archery.
ooo "you should have been good at that" I said. "Yes" he replied, "the teacher knew straight away that I knew what I was doing". 'And then after my first round and I got a good score and told them, of course I did well i'm the state champion"

My apologies here to anyone on this board who is or has been a real champion
.

A little later on I got some more out of him.
"Dad, everyone was watching me shoot and I could here them whisper..."did you know he's the state champion","he's really good isnt he".. "Then my teacher decided to really test me. He hung his lanyard off a nail in the target and hung an apple off the lanyard. Told me to hit the apple." "And did you try", I said. "Better than that, I shot , missed the apple but hit the lanyard and the apple fell to the ground."
Quick as a flash my boy then said
"I meant that, the apple was a bit big...too easy"

How can you not smile, cry and laugh at the lad for puttin it on ..and getting away with it.
"I am the arrow..the arrow is me...together as one...I fly to thee"
"the stick maybe crooked and the string hath no form,
then married by bowyer, transforms when first drawn"
"twang....thud"

Way to go lad. We need more cheeky kids to keep us on our toes.

Proud as punch!! Honorary state champ! on ya mate! Confidence is way to success.

Quick as a flash, eh? Good on him!
It's the great, big, broad land 'way up yonder,
It's the forests where silence has lease;
It's the beauty that thrills me with wonder,
It's the stillness that fills me with peace.

Cheeky little bugger! You've raised him well, Mark! He'll go far, that boy! :D
Lately, if life were treating me any better, I'd be suspicious of it's motives!
