Avatar problems

#1 Post by Mick Smith » Fri Jul 28, 2006 5:43 pm

I'm having a bit of trouble with my avatar. I don't know if the problem is related to the recent changes on the site or not.

I have tried to "put up" a new avatar using the browse of "my pictures" format and when that failed, I tried doing it by supplying the URL from Photobucket, but that didn't work either. :? It not a case of the avatar being too large as it wouldn't even re-accept my old one either.

When I tried doing it by browsing directly from "my pictures" a screen came up with warnings, etc and when I tried through Photobucket, it went through like as if it had been accepted, except when I checked, there was nothing there.

Any suggestions?

I'm left without an avatar. :)

Mick
There is no use focusing on aiming if you don't execute the shot well enough to hit what your are aiming at.

Yeah I noticed you were short an avatar on my recurve thread.

All I can think of is that it's the wrong format and the new site won't accept that. It does seem pretty weird though.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Hi Mick

You should be able to.

Let me try and change mine first.

Edit

Hmm.... seems to be a glitch there. I have phoned the Technical Guru.

Edit

There you are Mick. All fixed. Write permissions were not available in a directory.

1945. Just checked it Mick and have placed a temp Avatar to make sure it works.

I'm wishing I hadn't started messing with it, but all's well now.

Thanks Grahame.

Having a similar problem trying to change my avatar, I have adjusted the file size to specified 200 pix x 200 pix and the KB's are correct.
I know others are having trouble, can someone check this for me? Steve

We will have a looks see.

Well I checked things out including your avatar settings and everything seems to be operating correctly. I used both Gif and jpeg images and they worked fine as you can see.

Are you sure that the images you are wanting to use are no bigger than the 200 pixels wide and 200 pixels high and under the 20kb limit?

Please try again and if you can't change your avatars please PM me and we will see if we can sort it out.

Steve,

Are you loading the file straight from your computer, if not I would suggest trying that.

Yes Jeff, straight from my computer, the same as if posting photos just a smaller file size and pixel dimension. Steve

Steve,

Paul got it sorted - he uploaded straight from his computer. Not sure what your problem is but we will check further.

When you change avatar you have 3 choices of how, the top one didn't work so I used the middle one.
I think I have the hang of it now.
