The future of Ozbow

#1 Post by Outbackdad » Sat May 27, 2023 5:51 pm

Hi all.

How many are still using Ozbow?
This site has a cost in running it and I have been paying it for the past 10 + years. As there are not many posts on here these days, I am seeing how many are still using the site to see if it is worth paying to keep it going.

I read some of the posts, but tend not to post. Basically I could live without it.

Pity.....It was so full of life in the past.....I started to make bows and following this page in 2006......
There was so much people , so much issues to talk about.....
I met some nice people personally by this page......Gray Beard , another guy that used to make longbows , Turbows , forgot his name......and in the clubs......
It was really good......

It is not gone yet, asking how many are still looking at the site.

I still come here and try to post on any topics that have been posted up. Thanks for all you do to keep Ozbow going; much appreciated Eddie.

Perhaps put up a fund raiser such as a voluntary donation to keep the site going as there is a lot of valuable information stored within the forums.

Sadly, I think social media has affected the forum based pages in a negative way.

Hi Eddie,

I visit the site every day in the hope of seeing new posts and replies to previous posts.

Over the years I have posted numerous bow making stories in the hope of motivating others to have a go.
Although I am still making bows there is no point re iterating older posts. When I come up with something different I would certainly do a post.

When visiting the site there appears to be between twenty and fifty people on it at any given time.

I do not know what it costs to host a web site but donations may be the only way to go as opposed to paid advertisements.

Thank you for keeping the site running.

Daryl.

Daryl and Jeff

I have always been open to anyone that has been open the making a donation to help run the site.

I run a bow give away to try and get more people to post but did not get a lot of response.

Ozbow will keep going for at least one more year.

Eddie, Please put up account details in a new post saying 'Donation details for Site Hosting Costs' or similar. If you don't wish to do that ask people who would like to donate to PM you for the details. After, post it each year prior to when the yearly fees are due as a reminder.

Hello Eddie,
As to what Jeff has said, I would like to donate.
I visit almost every day to see the things that are happening.
It is a great place to see and meet, learn and trade with a vast number of people from all around Australia.
Over the years I have learnt so much.
Thanks. Bill

Hi Eddie,

I'll be honest I haven't been on here for quite a while, but realise there are still archers out there that aren't on the "socials" so will be using ozbow again as a place to promote the shoots.

cheers

I'll donate to Ozbow to help keep it running. I haven't posted anything for years until I wanted to move some gear on. Turns out a lot of social media and market sites don't like archery gear. It's considered dangerous weapons. So to sell/buy traditional gear or find proper information and help this seems to be the only easily accessible
web site for Australia. Maybe donation details could be posted somewhere. Otherwise, PM me the bank details. Happy to help even if I don't visit very often.
