Yeah mate, the sacrifices I make to give you fellas a laugh! What about sticks falling on camper vans daily, gas leaks, trap door overalls, skindiving for leathermans dropped overboard in winter, how to flip a canoe in one easy step, rear end protection from charging boars (Glenn might be interested...

Jack, I think this subject is one that is mostly a matter of personal preference. Each of us will like a particular style of handle over another. In saying this I think bow design will also, to some degree, play a part in what grip type is preferred. Me personally, I shoot longbows, and I like what ...

Oh Black Betty bam ba lam!!! I've heard that cry a few times. :D Yes that Ol' Girl has been through a lot. I've seen some of the abuse dished out to her - she was meant to shoot arras at boars not used to hit them over the head with. Through all of it though she has been so faithful - simply...

G'day again Charly, The Ozwood shafts are not available anymore. The original wood was very good as it was air dried. Later they started using kiln (oven) dried wood. This caused many problems as it dried the wood to much and made it brittle. Adding to these problems they started using wood that was...

G'day Charly, Firstly I think the Jarrah burl would be alright for the handle in your longbow. However being a burl the wood grain is most likely running in all directions. So long as the wood does not seem brittle where the grain changes directions than I'm sure it will be fine. Jarrah is a very st...

Jack, IMO I think you will be able to shoot them OK. As you have pointed out, at 155 gr they 30 gr heavier than you usually shoot. However I have found it best to nip the point off of them or the point tends to curl if it hits something a bit hard. If this is done and the head sharpend it will proba...

I hand planned a shaft from Celery Top some years ago. It was reasonably heavy (physical weight) but it didn't have much spine. If the shafts were badly cross grained as you said I would not have used them - rubbish just like any other wood shaft with cross grain. It seems to be a reasonably brittle...

I've been telling Erron that we will be coming down sometime. It was supposed to be this year (we want to see snow) but we didn't make it. We were going to stay with Col Graham and then Dennis and then our little Gringo mate. Maybe next year. A wander around some of that country of yours would be gr...

Pat, I was thinking that sure is a big broadhead to be using with rather light equipment. I would think that penetration would be better with a narrower broadhead with your 47# bow. However it certainly got the job done. Congrats once again Ol' Mate. Maybe one day Jude and I might just pay you a vis...

G'day Pale Skin, I live in Maryborough not far from the coast. I was meaning that we don't have them around here. There is an odd one within an hour or so of here but very few. In fact my first one was shot about an hour away. Most of my hunting is in Western Queensland and there has never been many...
