Re: Treatment for borers
Kevin will have an answer for you but I believe coating the backs with" Borax" or a similar product would work as they tend to go for the sap wood. If you bark is left on I believe that makes it more attractive to the mother laying the eggs. A syringe to inject product into the holes may s...

Re: Carbon In Laminated Longbows
Hello bowyers, I recently acquired a Barry Johnson Longbow and was wondering if any of you bowyers have used carbon fibre laminations at all in your Hill style bows, and if you have is there a noticeable improvement over what you would normally use. Regards. Richard. Hi Richard, you could expect a ...

Re: Houston we have a problem
Hi Rob Ha ha none of my bows are in working order now.. but yes I see what you are getting too. We have looked at the tiller and dismissed it as every thing is right there, still looking at the fadeout area and why it is failing . We have looked at bows that are many years old and cant see much dif...

Re: Houston we have a problem
To tight on the limb bolts, not enough taper in the lams, timber not up to the task? Perhaps use a layup of glass/thinner timber and or phenolic on the pads. Steve

Re: split finger tiller on Border
Hi Beast, if the the arrow is porpoising or you are getting shelf contact and it can't be tuned out with nocking point adjustment then yes it will need a shim under the top limb pad or sending back for adjustment. Send them an email to see if they have record of how it was tillered and their advice ...

Re: A question about a form
Hi Woodie, I have a couple of chip board forms that Graeme K made that are fine. He has coated them with resin and glued on a steel spine.
For straight laid bows I use a 50x50mmx3mm steel post.

Yep, got it all covered Bob, no creditors involved so no worries there. The only thing exhibitors need to be worried about is if there is a fire or theft any artwork is only covered for materials value by insurers.

Thanks Craig, Sue and Jeff. Thanks Rob, It would be great to have a couple of your bows. Yeah that weight sounds pretty good. If I can't sell the stock bows to people they would be put in touch. Re: What attributes make for a sweet shooting osage bow?
Hi Mick, seasoning- Yeah 6 months would be good, however you could rough it out immediately and re-seal the back and ends and that would speed up the drying. I have plenty of short Indian style bow staves in osage, some Black Locust which is just as good apparently and is approached in the same fash...

Hi Mika, The dowels shouldn't be necessary if you follow the other changes you have made ie- longer fades, thinner strips of timber or a power lam, keeping the bend away from the fades and using appropriate/proven adhesive. I don't mind the look of the dowels in your example but think it to be not n...
