WA State Election

Hi All, I realise with Christmas and holidays coming up that the up coming state election wont be front of mind. However I just wanted to let you all know that I have been endorsed by Shooters, Fishers and Farmers WA as a candidate for the seat of Collie Preston in the Southwest of WA. I am proud to...

SSAA Perth Shot Show

I am sure many of you will already be headed to this event. I realise that it isn't a strictly archery event, but the more people we get through the door of events like this, the more chance the Politicians will leave our sports alone. There is an archery range set up for juniors and adults as well ...

Years ago at one of Joh" Bjelke-Petersen's infamous Chook feedings he told the Media that "If you walk with a leg each side of a Barbed Wire Fence something is bound to get caught up " A truer statement has never been said re trying to keep everyone happy at an Archery Tournament. re...

Re: Having a B**ch

Graham A and Ronster, I believe that you may still be missing the point so I will simplify it for you. The comments where in no way aimed at the makers of the Rules, They where not a call to not have rules I was attempting to highlight that it is divisive to draw the so called line in the sand under...

Re: Having a B**ch

From my POV it was a great exercise for you in that you have a group of people shooting and enjoying 'Trad'. Plus you have real experience of the issues. (It is worse than herding cats.) A small related aside. There is a small group of people, in my club, who want to shoot/try/experience 'Traditiona...

Re: Goat Cull, Right Or Wrong?

In my opinion I think we need to allow these type of Experiments to be tried and allowed to fail. Eventually there will be no other option than to engage with groups such as the SSAA. one of the main issues in WA around this type of control is the lack of Training pathways that allow this to become ...

I haven't really made the foray into timber shafts as I am time poor. I was just pondering.
It would be fantastic if we had something local that would be good even if it was just to use as footings.

Re: quivers

I use a back quiver for around home target shooting, but I hunt with a 4 arrow bow quiver. Either strap on or bolt on depending on the bow I am using. I have both 2 piece as well as 1 piece models I don't think that any performs better than the next as long as they can be secured well and don't ratt...

Great Effort Muz those big rabbits are a challenge with trad gear for sure.
The east coast is certainly spoiled for species choice but I thought you were based in the SW of WA, you should be used to the cold.

Aussie Arrow Timbers

I was cutting some fire wood recently and I got to thinking about the properties that make a great arrow. I spent the last week trawling the net to come up with some answers but to I am more confused than I was. So I appeal to the collective knowledge of Ozbow to find an answer What Native aussie ti...

It's always a shame to read about this type of thing, I believe the essential thing is communication. I agree that there are many great aussie bowyers but I don't think they are any better or worse than those overseas. I buy all my bows from one bow Company and I have a long term relationship with t...

Morning. I am with Ron. The topic of Trad Rules come around every six months and there is a wide range of opinions. However, there is an extreme lack of people willing to put in the work to get a consensus. There be the nub of the discussion. RULES Why isn't there an open trad class where you come ...

Ronster, couple of points Firstly I wasn't attacking you or the club I was having a go at the absurdity of a rule that limits 1 component of equiptment but is open and accomodating to all others. Also there is only a couple of clubs in my region. And I am as entitled to my opinion as anyone else and...

Re: Having a B**ch

The reason for the post was to rant, I had not specified anyone in particular and I felt my point was valid. Why should I be excluded from an event because I shoot carbons there are category's for different bow types why not just have a open trad class to enable those in the community who use Ali or...
