Re: bow quiver
I'd have a look here mate:
http://www.eaglesflightarchery.com/bow-quivers/
The riveted head ones are the best value getting around. I've got a fancier 'Navajo' and it's beautiful. It takes my 11/32 fir and normal thickness carbons in the same gripper set.

Re: Takedown semi-recurve bow.
Rod that is a stunning looking bow mate. I've never seen a 3 piece take down that I liked the look of that wasnt a recurve, but that is very nice to look at.
Hope Townsville is still treating you well!

Which portable target?
Hey guys, Im going to buy a small, portable target this week for an upcoming trip. At the top of my list is the Rhinehart 18-1 cube, but I thought I'd ask if anyone had any other ideas before I bought it. Is there something else I should consider or are there some not so obvious limitations of the c...

Perry,
I just started reading the same series before Chirstmas and I'm halfway through Burning Land now. A wonderful series and I think anyone with an interest in this period of history would find them entertaining and informative.

Archery clubs around Seymour Vic
Gday everyone,
I'm going to be working out of Seymour in Vic for the first 3 months of this year and am keen to keep some shooting up.
Does anyone know of any clubs near Seymour? I don't know the area at all.
Jim.

Re: Goat Cull, Right Or Wrong?
So who's doing the MRM on that and getting it though the CO? I doubt many units would go near such an activity now; nor do I think the F88 and issue F1 ball is the rifle and cartridge combo for that job. Nothing to do with risk, it's about Army's reputation. And I think you'll find the humble .223 ...

Re: Goat Cull, Right Or Wrong?
The Army won't touch that kind of thing. Feral dogs were such a problem in Tville a few years back that they had to get culled from Army ranges and they got in civ. contractors to shoot them. You're not going to see soldiers doing any more of that in our lifetime I don't think.

Re: Arrow shafts
Hey mate, I've been buying my wood shafts from surewood shafts in the states for a couple years now. They're very reasonably priced (including postage) and really great to deal with. They only do douglas fir. Here's the site if you're interested: http://www.surewoodshafts.com/ And I buy most of my b...

Re: Meditaranian or three fingers under
I started off shooting 3 under way back at the turn of the century and early last year changed to split. I must admit for purely romantic reasons. All of the best competition archers I've ever seen shoot 3 under though... it must have something going for it.

Growing your own osage
So Traditional Bowhunter Magazine has a great piece in the upcoming jan/feb edition by Billy Berger. Apparently osage is a really fast growth tree, he planted seeds in 2001 that he's harvested this year. Here's an excerpt from the article: To start a tree, you must first collect the seeds. Osage ora...

Not the best news Mick, good luck with the treatment (hopefully not surgery!) and your rehab. Re: Traditional Wooden arrows VS Carbon or Aluminium
Matt, I don't think there's any technical advantage to shooting them, and my experience is that the common softwoods like port orford cedar, sitka spruce and douglas fir do break more readily than decent carbon shafts on heavy impacts (like hitting a rock or tree). They're also a little less conveni...

Re: Removing arrows from trees???
I have also noticed that many shooters are reluctant to use their beautiful knives to dig their arrow out of the tree, fearing they may damage it. That's a bit like not wanting to shoot your beautiful new arrows in case they get damaged... I have found a little folding knife or multi-tool to be per...

I don't know what it is about Townsville Indie, but the whole time I've lived here it's pretty much always nor-easters. The only time we seem to get southerlies is in the winter, which can actually give us some cool days

Indie, we did it in 4 days, pretty much from Townsville to Lucinda. We left from Saunders Beach just northwest of Townsville. First night we stayed on Rattlesnake Island (it's Defence property). Day 2 we paddled straight north to the south coast of Palm. I had wanted to keep going n/w through Havana...

I thought folks might like seeing these photos from a recent paddling trip I lead through the Palm group north of Townsville. I'd never been out there before and it was pretty magnificent. Crystal clear water, heaps of sea life and very few people. In fact the only people we ran into in four days wa...
