Hi LTH,
Fletching tape is the way to go. All feathers on in no time flat, no mess, no fuss. That's all Steve uses, and he's made a few dozen of late......

Hey Mick,
so when are you going to organise the Chekmate Mutual Admiration Shoot.
Beautiful bow mate, and now what you need is a good set of footed Wallace woods to shoot out of it....

Hey Mick, yeah it's great having a private little course only 10mins from home. The photo of the javelina (my best side), the track used to go straight ahead there, all those trees used to standing straight up were blown over in a severe storm we had just before christmas. So poor old Mark has been ...

Daryl,
They're Marks best boxer shorts, and you can see Steve and I were really busy watching someone else shooting. We really had a great time.

Grahame,
I was just having fun Maura/Mark took all the photos.

Hi Dan,
have sent you a reply. A few of the guys from North Albert have bags of mine, so have a look around if you're going to their weekend shoot to get an idea of what I can do. Will speak to you soon.

its ok Jeff, I've got the Robin of Sherwood series and they have english longbows in that series.
As for the "shooting" of the bow, well it's like the Lord of the Rings stuff, they just don't quite get it.

Hey Cory, We use hessian bags (potato bags from the fruit shop) stuffed with plastic shopping bags - then the hessian bags go into a wool bale (from the produce store). The arrows don't go thru the plastic bags, and if the bags start to look a bit (thin) you just restuff them. The supermarket also h...

we had a great time. Many many thanks to Faye, Ian, Woody, Shane and others who pitched in to make it a great weekend. Mental note to self - more warm clothes for the evenings and early morning, lighter stuff for the middle of the day - so that makes 5 layers and peel as you go. It was also good mee...

A recurve Jeffrey - goodness me, you won't know yourself. Casting my memory back many many moons, Steve took up Compound in about early 1981. His first bow was a Darton, and he shot at Bensons Indoor range at night, I used to go with him and just watch while he competed, until one day an older guy b...

Jeff, I couldn't agree more. At the Abbey Festival at Caboolture recently a kid was injured whilst "playing" with the bow. It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye. I personally think they're crazy. Can you imagine the damage I could do with my bow and I only shoot 35#. I guess we...

Hey Mick, Steve's new Chek Mate Hunter II arrived yesterday and it shoots his quondong footed shafts beautifully. :D We've both always shot heavy shafts as the arrow takes all the energy the bow can produce, making for a much smoother shot. I leave all the technical stuff to him. If you can't see th...

If your after a cheapish beginners bow, try Graydons Sports store in Gympie or one the nambour sports store will have Inernatures. Better still phone Abbey Archery in Brisbane they will post, if you pay by credit card, or you can send them a cheque.

Hey Mick, Been over to NZ twice, if you get a dipstick at the airline checkin they might tell you that you have a dangerous weapon. Hey Mick, Both Steve and I use the same bow for hunting and field archery. The key is use the archery shoots to keep the muscles toned for hunting, a set of matched arrows, just change the points - and away you go. I have brought large goats down with my 36# at 23" with no problems. Most of the...
