Re: cheap doesn't have to be nasty!
I only use ULS bo tuff also which is a little dearer than the normal stuff, as for the carbon bows not being trad, I am not aiming my bows at the re enactors of robin hood etc  , my bows are aimed at the hunter that wants high performance without a compound bow, the addition of carbon fibre act...

Re: cheap doesn't have to be nasty!
I am paying $23 per strip of glass myself, so that's an extra $22.00 per bow not much of a difference at the end of the day, but my bows are also carbon backed unless otherwise specified by the customer and I only use kiln dried stabilised timbers or engineered wood products such as Diamondwood and ...

Re: cheap doesn't have to be nasty!
I mustn't charge enough then as my costs account for about 70 percent of my bows overall price, lol, for me the reward is in building them and the customer feed back I receive, not trying to make money just nice bows.

Re: cheap doesn't have to be nasty!
Looks good Bob, certainly not nasty but whats cheap though? I predict that when using bamboo flooring the price could be kept fairly low yes? No use of Phenolic etc in the riser will keep the price down also, did you use any on the tip overlays at all?

Re: Supercore
yep someone has made a name up for carbonised bamboo flooring in the bow industry now, carbonising bamboo flooring is only done to change the colour of the bamboo, to give an even colour right through the timber as opposed to staining which only penetrates so far, different cook times and temps will...

Re: Bilaminate Bamboo Flooring Bow.
I have been looking into the urea formaldehyde glue used for bamboo flooring and after a bit of research I wouldn't use the bamboo flooring in my bows at all, it is not recommended for outdoor situations at all, due to it's inability to withstand moisture and changes in humidity levels and temps, be...

all I know is in SA the only species allowed to be taken when bowfishing is the European carp (feral) and then must have a hunting permit to do so. As we know though Australia is never the same state to state.

Re: Recurve, Longbow, Deflex/ Reflex bow nomenclature.
longbow characteristics or not???, the strung shape is closer to a strung longbow than a recurve, one could also say what more recurve characteristics does it have, as I said a bit of both = D/R hybrid IMO.
