Ghetto bow quiver

I have been thinking about trying to make my own bow quiver for quite a while and couldn't figure out what to use for arrow grippers. My local clark rubber closed down over a year ago so I was at bit of an impasse. Then today I found this video. The answer to my problem? THONGS! The man's a genius, ...

New TV show - "Vikings"

I just finished watching episode 1 of the new show "Vikings" that screened on the History Channel in the US Sunday night. It's touted as an "historical drama", set during the early medieval period. It wasn't bad, they seem to be trying to be as authentic as possible, with a bit o...

Long term goal for me now to take an animal with a selfbow made by me. Long way off, though

Re: How much arrow weight variation affects accuracy?

Hi Bryan You question peaked the interest of the maths nerd in me  I found this quite interesting: http://peteward.com/ballistic.calc.htm You have to manually factor in the fact that a heavier arrow leaves the bow at a slower speed, but it gives you some idea. edit: After plugging some number...

I couldn't resist

Well, the rain stopped and I couldn't bear it any longer, I *HAD* to shoot my new bow. So I made an arrow    It's a bamboo stake from Bunnings, straightened with a heat gun. The Spine came in at about 80#, a bit high, but the lowest of the bunch. The point I made by cutting the head o...

Re: Bow Tiller

Could you maybe put a thin washer or a shim under the limb bolt?

Have you measured the tiller with the limbs reversed?

They're not ILF. The info on the Hoyt website says the Buffalo has adjustable tiller, but doesn't say the Game Master does. Doesn't say it doesn't have, either

Re: Spine jig (almost) finished

I didn't need any tools for the pivot except a drill and a vice. I used an 8mm bolt, threw it in the vice and drilled a 3.5mm hole through it for the brazing rod, then locked it in place with a washer and a nut either side. I drilled a hole through the back piece of timber with a spade bit, didn't h...

Re: Spine jig (almost) finished

Fraser, I'm guessing with the weight of the bows you shoot, you put some pretty stiff spines on your tester? I noticed with this type of protractor-type gauge the heavy spine groups are quite close together on the scale... Have you had any problems? Do you take your measurements differently, ie dial...
