Re: Osage 'character' bow.

Thanks Gazza and Wayno!. All my staves out of a log are all very knotty and I have had to make one stave out of two which I will splice once I steam each straight. Osage really loves steam and almost turns into a wet noodle when it comes out of steamer.still got two more staves which may be full len...

Osage 'character' bow.

Made a few all wood bows to date but this is my first Osage self bow and stave didn't do me any favours! Lots of knots and bumps to test one's patience. Been playing around with several more staves since in various stages of development.Happy with the outcome. It finished at 50# @ 28'' and is 66 ntn....

Re: Bamboo supplier???

It is very hard to source the vertical flooring as most suppliers have gone to the strand woven or horizontal stuff which is useless for bows.I am lucky in that I stocked up when I( heard some time ago that the vertical was being phased out, at with my supplier any way.

Re: 50# takedown.

Due to extenuating circumstances this bow is still for sale. It is very quiet, smooth and a great performer. It is offered for sale at $100 off my normal price. Most likely it will be at Granite Belt shoot if it doesn't sell sooner.Pm me if interested. I wont be at the shoot due to surgery etc, but t...

Re: 50# takedown.

I will have a it at Chevallan this coming weekend, after that I will be out of action for some time as I am scheduled for surgery next week and have to keep immobilized for some weeks.Granite Belt is looking very dubious at the moment, much to my disgust but this is must have surgery.

50# takedown.

Been a bit quiet on here lately so decided to post some shots of recent takedown I've finished.Came in right on 50# at 28'', and 62 NTN. Riser is Burdekin plum, black wattle and has some lovely grain in it. The accent strip is hairy oak sapwood, and the belly lams are plum. Overlays are hairy oak. I...

Re: Australia Day flatbow

Nice work Yeoman! At first I had the same thought as Perry but on closer examination I think it is the angle of camera shot as the tiller rod at riser is below a true horizontal in shot which then makes lower limb tip appear to be closer to an imaginary archer, so to speak.

Re: Draw knife..

wish I had one as good as that when I just reduced three osage staves to a single ring last week . Took me 6 days to complete the 3 staves. Damn rings were very narrow and nearly went cross eyed chasing each ring. All good in the end, sitting on my drying rack now to season.Good work Kim.

Re: Riser wood

i have and one has been around for a few years. It's not my favourite wood as it is quite light and I prefer a heavier wood in a riser. Same bow also had silky oak as belly veneers, so its passed the durability test.
