At my archery club with invitational shoots, we go out of our way to be inclusive and live by a very simple motto.... bums on seats equals bikkys in the tin. And with more bikkys in tin we can buy flasher toys to play with next time we have a get together.
You exclude, you lose.

Fastflight on older bows
I am thinking about making a Fastflight string for an older Recurve I have and padding the loops. Has anyone done this and what did you pad the loops with, either more Fastflight or strands of Dacron. I have made padded loop Dacron strings before. Or is it not worth the risk for what you gain and th...

Styrofoam predator call
Came across a new type of fox call on youtube last night that works by rubbing a piece of white Styrofoam that has been wet on a mirror. I did a bit of R&D this afternoon and I could get it to work on pretty well any highly polish surface such as a empty glass stubbie , a ceramic plate and polis...

I use bow quivers and have used Selway quivers for almost twenty years, they are fantastic.
I also have a Thunderhorn and its great as well. Both brands six arrow capacity and quick detach or strap on.

Re: Keeping skins
I use rock salt and put on plenty, a rough guide is the same amount of salt as the skin weighs. Try and clean the skin of as much flesh as possible and then apply the salt and then fold the legs in to the centre and roll skin, flesh side in and either put in a hessian bag or an Onion bag or no bag a...

Re: Stump shooting
Don't shoot stumps here in Aus mate, they are to damned hard and will kill your arra's. Where I live we have California Thistles that grow about three feet tall and I get my eye in by walking along and trying to shoot the flowers off them using Judo points. Good Fun!! I always have a coupl...

Thanks for that Bob, I was looking for it on their webpage and while I was at it ,I found they have a page called Dynamic Spine Calculator. You type in your bow make ,poundage, draw length, arrow make and length and weights of bits such as wraps nocks and inserts etc. Hit the calculate button and it...

Re: Effect on arrow spine, Dacron vs Fast flight.
Just did some testing with the chronograph.
Using my Cascade Brush Hawk 56" 53# longbow and got ten feet per second faster arrow flight
with a Fast flight string, which is why they call it Fast Flight

Effect on arrow spine, Dacron vs Fast flight.
I have heard somewhere that if you change your bows string from Dacron to Fast Flight , you will need to shoot a stiffer spine arrow because of the speed gain.
Has anyone found that to be true. and how much difference did you find it made.

Re: Broadhead alignment on arrow shafts
As I gap shoot , I set mine horizontal so that in the heat of the moment hunting I will always use the tip of the broadhead to gap my shot. With a vertical set broadhead you can make the mistake of picking the very edge of the back of the blade and shoot low.

Has anyone got a Suregrip on their recurve bow, It does not have to be a Black Widow.
Just want to know how it fitted on their bow. If it was hard or easy to get on and fitted neatly.
thanks

Hi Mitch 28" draw length is the standard that traditional bows are made to. Us humans come in different sizes like myself with a chimpanzee draw length 26 1/2" or knuckle dragging gorillas with a 32" draw length. At a 29" draw you will be pulling 43#, maybe you are shoo...

How do you hang on to your bow
I have been doing a bit of shooting with my Cascade Longbow today having just made a new string for it.
I find it shoots best if I literally strangle it.
What sort of grip do you guys use when shooting your bows

Re: D97, B50, B55. What's it all mean?
Its mainly the older bows that you should not use fast flight on like the old Bears with thin wide limbs and I
personally know guys who have tried it and blown up their bow.
Contact your bows manufacturer to see if your bow is fast flight compatible.

Re: D97, B50, B55. What's it all mean?
B50 is called Dacron, I personally make all my strings using it as I like the fact that I can get my bows to shoot with very little noise which I like for hunting. It doe's stretch quite a bit, but stops stretching fairly quickly. D97 is called Fast flight and has very little stretch and for me a lo...

Hi Shurik Depending on how much you want to spend, I would look into trying a takedown recurve. I personally have three takedown recurves that I put in a backpack and the longest is 56 inches assembled , the longest thing on the pack is the tube full of arrows. With a takedown, they have the advanta...
